What fixtures and fittings are included?
The bathroom includes a proper ceramic toilet, a vanity, a bathroom cupboard and a 900mm x 900mm shower cubicle with chrome tapware and rain shower head. The kitchen area has a granite benchtop, a stainless-steel sink, a rangehood and chrome kitchen mixer. There are both floor and wall cupboards and a set of drawers, space for an under counter fridge/dishwasher and space/plumbing for a washing machine. There is the option of a removeable, mobile base cabinet which will allow the option of installing free standing cooker, if required. Both bedrooms come with generous wardrobe/draw space and over-bed storage. All internal doors are timber, with privacy locks and the standard floorcovering is a wood look PVC vinyl. All windows include built-in fly screens and roller blinds for privacy. See the Features page of our website for a full list.
Does the Expandavan come with electricity and is it certified?
You will find that the Expandavan has a generous number of power points throughout and all electrics have been inspected and certified to meet New Zealand standards. All internal lighting is LED. The electricity needs to be plugged in; in the same way you would plug a caravan in to a mains supply.
Does Expandavan require building consent?
Based on current regulations, the Expandavan is a mobile unit that can be towed and moved at short notice so is classed as a caravan, which does not require a building consent. You may wish to check if there are any special local requirements with your Council.
Do I need permission to site the Expandavan?
Not normally, but you might want to check with your local Council.
Do I need permission to connect to Council water and sewerage services?
It is worth checking with your Council first, in case you do require a plumbing consent, or connect to your own services.
What power and water connections come as standard with Expandavan?
Our caravan comes with mains power and mains water connections as standard. Gas, if required, is the responsibility of the purchaser.
Can Expandavan be towed on the road?
No. Although the Expandavan is built on a trailer, it is too big and heavy to be towed legally on the road. However, the trailer design does allow for easy transportation, without the need for a pilot vehicle and manoeuvrability around site.
Caravans can be expensive to heat, how does Expandavan compare?
To make sure you stay super cosy, Expandavans are built with your comfort in mind and are constructed using 30mm extruded polystyrene (XPS) insulation sandwiched between two fibre glass panels (33mm total thickness). The generous number of double-glazed windows also helps take advantage of the sun’s energy to naturally heat the space and help reduce your power bills. But for those days extra cold winter days, we also include a heat-pump.
Can I use Expandavan as an office or commercial space?
Expandavan is flexible for any type of space. Talk to us about your requirements.
How long would I need to wait before delivery?
If we don’t have one on site that quite suits your needs, or we have sold our current stock, you may need to wait up to 3 months for delivery to our Otaki site. There may also be a short delay to allow time for unpacking and inspection prior to shipping it to its final destination.
Can I customise my Expandavan?
Certainly. Just about anything is possible but changes to the layout and/or fixtures and fittings may add to the cost of your Expandavan. Significant changes to the layout may increase the Leadtime to site. Talk to us about your requirements.
How much does it cost to transport to site?
The Expandavan is designed to fit inside a 40Ft High-Cube Container. This keeps transportation costs low as it will fit on a standard HIAB or Crane truck without overhang and removes the need for a pilot vehicle. The following pricing is indicative only for Kerbside delivery, excludes Ferry costs and assumes a backload is available:
· Auckland - $1400 + GST
· Wellington - $700 + GST
· Masterton - $700 + GST
· Whangarei - $1950 + GST
· Gisborne - $1700 + GST
· Hawkes Bay - $1000 + GST
· Nelson - $950 + GST
· Christchurch - $1950 + GST
Placement on site will be charged at an hourly rate in addition to freight charges. It is recommended that to minimise the time needed, that the site is prepared and is level and any difficulties regarding access is discussed prior to delivery.
Can I view before I commit?
Yes of course. We welcome viewings at our site at Riverbank Road in Otaki, although we recommend you call us on 0800 236 8476 first as we may not always be available on site.
